What I do

Research to launch, across UX design, UI design, design systems, service design and content design. What I don't do: brand design, copywriting, or graphic design. I'll point you to people I trust for those.

How I work

Understand context

In the first week I review your product, your research, and any safety or compliance documents. Where big unknowns sit, I run research with users, through your network or mine.

Define the problem

I write up the problem with success metrics and a few solution ideas for us to agree on. Risks and constraints get logged here, not after design starts.

Generate solutions

I draft ideas with your team, then we rank them. With engineers and any clinical, regulatory or legal stakeholders, we shape the strongest ones to meet safety and viability needs.

Test and learn

I prototype and test with real users or proxies, at whatever rigour your product needs. I iterate until the data backs a build-ready design.

Launch and adjust

I hand engineering build-ready specs, stay close through launch, and adjust on live data. Every engagement ends with a short handover, so the patterns hold after I leave.

On medical devices

I contribute to hazard analysis and run IEC 62366 formative and summative testing, alongside your clinical and regulatory leads. I'm not your clinical safety officer or your regulatory sign-off, and I won't pretend to be. I make the product easier and safer to use, and I document the work so your team can stand behind it.

Questions

Are we too early for this?

If you've built something and users are struggling, you're not too early. UX fixes compound at every stage.

Can you work with our existing designers?

Yes. I work alongside them, and mentor them where it helps.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a week. We pick a date, and I hold your days each week.

What's the commitment, and can we stop?

Yes, within limits. The first two weeks are a trial. If either of us feels it isn't a fit, we stop there. Otherwise you're committed for the three-month term. Near the end, we review the work against the goals we set and decide whether to continue. If we both want to, the engagement runs month to month from there, with four weeks' notice on either side, or payment in lieu. If not, it closes cleanly at three months.

Do you work on medical devices and wellness products?

Yes, across digital health, from wellness to regulated medical devices.

How do you use AI?

To speed up research and test ideas, not to replace judgement. You get work that's faster where speed helps and careful where care matters.
